The Petco Foundation and Blue Buffalo has donated $250,000 to the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in response to WeatherTech's Super Bowl commercial.
The commercial aired during the second quarter of Super Bowl LIV. The ad follows WeatherTech unofficial mascot Scout's journey with cancer and how the UW-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine was able to provide him with treatment.
In a letter from Petco CEO Ron Coughlin to WeatherTech CEO David McNeil, Coughlin announced a donation to the School of Veterinary Medicine.
"I read your story yesterday and felt immediately connected to your cause," wrote Coughlin. "My dog, Yummy, was diagnosed with cancer last year, too."
The Petco Foundation, partnered with Blue Buffalo, is donating to the #PetsMakeADifference campaign for the School of Veterinary Medicine.
"By joining forces, our hope is that more Scouts and Yummys get lucky too," said Coughlin.
Everyone who has lost a loved one to pet cancer knows the heartbreak and impact it can have on one's life. To celebrate Scout’s survival story & to support @WeatherTech’s mission, the @petcofoundation is donating $250,000 to @UWMadison to help further fund pet cancer research. pic.twitter.com/lAulbz4hvs
