Schools across northeast Wisconsin are reminding parents tonight to bundle up their kids as they send them off to class. NBC26 shows you how school leaders are putting safety first as the cold weather roll’s in.
Every school district across northeast Wisconsin has to determine how cold is too cold for recess to be canceled.
Out in Pulaski it's no different, reminders to parents just went out on social media telling them to bundle up their kids for the afternoon break from class. School leaders are asking parents to consider snow pants, hats, gloves, boots and scarves for their kid’s trip to school because every child should be prepared for recess and the bus stop. The only time recess will be canceled in Pulaski according to school officials is when the wind chill gets below zero degrees.
"Our students who are growing older our middle school and high school students their becoming more independent but they still need these reminders about what type of attire is appropriate to stay safe in cold weather. We also have new parents who are concerned about their children coming prepared to school. We also send reminders for those parents as well." says Pulaski Community School District’s Superintendent Bec Kurzynske.
School officials say parents should be thinking about their kids waiting for the bus when the weather gets this frigid too. Buses can run early or late and your kids should be dressing for any weather.
