Oneida firefighter dies after falling ill at crash scene

A town of Oneida Volunteer Fire Department firefighter has died of a heart attack while at a crash scene Monday night, according to a press release from the department.

The U.S. Fire Administration reports that 65-year-old John Brocker responded on a fire unit to a single vehicle vs. utility pole crash. 

The vehicle was occupied by five teenagers, one of whom died. 

Firefighter Brocker was in the process of setting up a landing zone for an inbound medical helicopter when he complained of feeling ill. 

He was treated on scene and transported to St. Vincent's Hospital in Green Bay, where he was pronounced dead.
