The Menominee County Sheriff Department confirms that one person was killed in a residential house fire on County Road G-18 in Holmes Township.
The incident took place at approximately 1:32 a.m. on Friday, January 6.
The Nadeau Township Fire Department and Menominee County Sheriff's Deputies were both dispatched to the scene for reports of a structure fire.
A Michigan State Police Fire Investigator also assisted.
The Menominee County Medical Examiner has determined the cause of death was smoke inhalation.
The cause and origin of the fire is still under investigation.
Authorities are withholding the name of the victim at this time, pending notification of the next of kin.
