GREEN BAY, Wis. (NBC26) -- The 23rd annual WPS Garden of Lights returns to the Green Bay Botanical Gardens for the holidays.
Volunteers are the backbone of decorating and setting up more than 300,000 twinkling lights through several displays over the course of a one mile trail.
There is something new each year to enjoy. This year there is a "Butterflies in Motion" display which features more than 20,000 lights as well as moving butterfly displays. This year the Green Bay Botanical Gardens are also open for Thursdays. Organizers say they hope with adding Thursdays to the Garden of Lights schedule that more people will be able to get out and enjoy the scenery.
Thursdays will also be special in December because they will be "Family Nights!" What that means is children 12 and under in the same household can receive free walking admission with one paid adult ticket. There will also be a free nature themed craft, letters to Santa and free Face Painting by Lori. Those dates are December 5, 12th and 19th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The hours for the Green Bay Botanical Gardens for the WPS Garden of Lights are as follows for the rest of the year:
Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays | 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.
November 29–December 1
December 5–8
December 12–15
December 19–22
Thursday, December 26–Monday, December 30 | 5 p.m. –9 p.m.
They are closed December 24th and 25th.
The Green Bay Botanical Gardens are a local non-profit that focuses on connecting people with nature. The programs and events would not be possible without the staff and many volunteers. If you'd like to learn more about volunteer opportunities with the Botanical Garden, Click HERE.
