First it was Tide Pods and now it's electrical outlets. The newest craze to hit social media is the 'Outlet Challenge,' and We Energies is calling for an end to it.
The #OutletChallenge is when you drop a penny, or some form of metal in between the outlet and the appliance you are plugging in, right at the moment of plugging it in.
Don’t “Challenge” safety! The #OutletChallenge is putting you and your family at risk. Talk to your kids and make sure they don’t put internet fame over their own safety. pic.twitter.com/xkpgkxzZy8

We Energies released a statement encouraging parents to warn their children not to do this as it has the potential to be very dangerous.
"Don't --we repeat-- don't take this challenge. Please talk to your kids today to make sure they don't put internet fame over their own safety," said We Energies.
The challenge could result in damage to the electrical system in your home, a fire, or even worse yet, serious injury.
