Two young Milwaukee Brewers fans are heading to meet the team in Arizona.
Kayden Schmidt,13, and Evan Peterson,10, boarded a flight at Mitchell International Airport and took off on Thursday en route to Arizona.
The two Aurora Health Care patients and their families were surprised with an all-expenses paid trip to Spring Training.
Kayden was excited to be ditching Milwaukee's cold for warmer temperatures.
"Well it's like three degrees here so I really want to go to where it's like really hot," she said.
Kayden has overcome a serious rotator cuff injury, which has kept her from sports for quite some time.
Evan was also excited to board the plane.
"I just love the Brewers. They're my hometown team," he said.
Evan has been persevering through Centronuclear Myopathy since 2015.
The disease makes his muscles, eyes and heart weak.
"He's been through a lot so this is just going to give him the push to keep moving forward," said Evan's mother Danielle Peterson.
Their trip will include personal time with Brewers players and coaches, a host of behind-the-scenes experiences, an opportunity to throw out the first pitch before the game on Sunday, Feb. 23, and more surprises along the way.
"This opportunity will be able to allow them to take it easy for a few days and take their mind off of what might be going on back home," said Dr. Kevin Dahlman, Medical Director of Aurora Children's Health.
