BELLEVUE (NBC 26) -- The Village of Bellevue Fire Rescue Department is helping you avoid a fire in your home this Christmas season. They said there are several things you can do to make sure your tree doesn't become flammable.
In a Facebook post, they said don't forget to water your tree daily! It may seem like there's not much difference between a watered and dry Christmas tree, but the video below shows just how flammable they can be.
The message these firefighters are hoping to get out includes being safe this holiday season! They say to water your tree daily, keep it three feet from heat sources, decorate with safe lights rated for indoor use, and turn your tree's lights off before going to bed.
They also added a helpful sheet on Christmas Tree Safety that you can check out below. This sheet guides you through safety precautions starting with choosing the right tree to the time you throw it away.
