SHEBOYGAN — Three people needed rescuing after getting stuck inside a malt silo, Sheboygan Fire Department said Tuesday.

Emergency crews first got a 911 call Tuesday morning saying a man was trapped up to his neck inside a malt silo at Cargill Malt. Crews arrived on scene to find three people trapped in the hopper.

Sheboygan Fire Department said 35 responders were on scene. Sheboygan Firefighters, members of the Sheboygan County Technical Rescue team along with the Sheboygan Department of Public Works and Cargill employees all worked together to help rescue the three people. A public works vacuum truck was involved.

Two people were rescued within an hour. They were examined on scene and then released. A third person was taken to a hospital to be examined for non-life threatening injuries. The entire rescue operation took about four hours.
