Appleton and Green Bay join Neenah in canceling some summer school due to heat.
Green Bay announced Wednesday that summer school is canceled for Friday, July 19. Summer School will be in session on Thursday, July 18 in Green Bay.
On the Appleton School District's website, officials say Elementary and Middle Summer School classes are canceled on Friday, July 19, due to excessive heat. The summer food program is also canceled at all sites for that day. While school is open on Thursday, the school district says attendance is at the discretion of families.
Appleton School District's announcement also said Walk to the Park programming will be canceled July 18. High School credit recovery classes will remain in session at East High School and students and staff must report.
Wednesday's announcement from the Appleton School District follows Neenah's announcement posted Tuesday that canceled summer school for elementary students Thursday due to heat.
