OCONTO COUNTY (NBC 26) — A person was found dead at the scene of a fiery vehicle crash early Monday morning, Oconto County Sheriff's Office said.
At 3:10 a.m. Monday, the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Dispatch Center was notified of a one vehicle accident on Highway VV near Kalaus Road in the town of Underhill.
When deputies arrived on scene, they found the vehicle engulfed in flames. The vehicle was in a wooded area adjacent to the ditch.
The Sheriff's Office said the vehicle had been traveling east on Highway VV prior to leaving the road and entering the ditch on Kalaus Road. One person found in the vehicle died at the scene. The person's identity has not been released, pending notification of family.
An ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office and the Brown County Medical Examiner’s Office.
