APPLETON, Wis. — Three people have been displaced following a house fire in Appleton.
The fire was reported at the 200 block of N Locust St in Appleton late Tuesday night.
According to Appleton Fire Department, when crews arrived to the scene, they saw smoke and flames coming from the front of the 2-story home. While putting out the fire on the second floor, fire crews found a dog and a cat. Crews used a pet oxygen mask to treat the dog for smoke inhalation. The cat was breathing on it's own.
Appleton Fire Department says balloon frame construction contributed to the fire spreading.
Outagamie County CERT says their Rehab Unit was requested by the Appleton Fire Department to the fire.
Appleton Fire Department says there were no working smoke alarms at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
