MANITOWOC — Manitowoc Police say a suspicious man tried to pick up a 14-year-old girl on Saturday.

Officers responded to the area between the 1200 and 1400 blocks of S. 10th Street at around 9:44 p.m. for a report of a suspicious vehicle trying to pick up people.

According to police, the girl told officers that she was walking alone when she was approached by a vehicle described as a silver or metallic colored Mercedes Benz four door car with extreme window tinting.

The driver offered the girl a ride, but she declined. She kept walking and the car made a U-turn and again offered a ride. Police say the driver became more persistent telling the female to “get in the car”. The girl called a family relative and ran away, hiding behind a house.

According to police, the driver was described as a male Hispanic in his 20’s with a full face and short dark hair and a goatee. He had a deep voice. A second person was seen in the car. The second person was described as a male Hispanic wearing a gray t-shirt and sitting in the rear seat.

The grille of the vehicle was described as black or darker in color with rounded corners. The rear taillights were described as rectangular and outside the trunk. The rims were described as thicker chrome spokes. There was also a chrome border around the rear license plate. The front plate was located below the black grille.
