'I got a buck, I got a buck!' 104-year-old Wisconsin woman kills a buck on her first-ever hunt

Florence Teeters, 104, went hunting with her son Bill, the youngest of her five children, on her land in Philips. A little after 4:00 p.m., a buck showed up.

"I tapped her on the knee and I pointed. She nodded, and smiled, and was real quiet. Then, she took the shot," said Bill.

Teeters shot and killed the buck, which was about 30 yards away, according to Bill. He said she started screaming, "I got a buck! I got a buck," when she realized she had killed the deer.

It was a small "spike" buck, according to Bill, which means it's antlers are unbranched.

This all began when Teeters went out and sat with her son in his blind last year. When they were out there, she told her son that she wanted to get a hunting license.

Bill said Teeters likes to be out in the woods, and wanted to hunt because she wanted to experience the part of being out in the stand with the boys.

Teeters is the oldest person to date to purchase a gun deer license and harvest a deer, according to the DNR, who also shared the story of Teeters on their website.
