GREEN BAY — Green Bay Police are asking drivers to turn the music down.

Police write in a Facebook post that the department has received several loud music complaints recently from vehicles.

Citing a public statute, police say drivers cannot play music that can be heard from a distance of 75 feet or more, unless the sound is being used to call for help or alert others of an unsafe condition. A citation for this violation is $111.40.

"Not everyone likes the same music you do, nor do they want to listen to it," the Facebook post states.

Police are also asking people to keep the music down in their homes and to be a courteous neighbor.
