NORTHEAST WISCONSIN (NBC 26) -- Two more local school districts announced Monday that they will move to virtual learning due to COVID-19.

The Denmark School District says its last day for in-person learning will be Wednesday, Sept. 30. First day for virtual instruction will be October 5. As of Monday afternoon, the school district says it has 20 staff members out due to close contact quarantines or positive cases, and student absences have risen above 200.
Virtual education for Denmark schools will continue through October 16th. The district plans to return to an in-person or blended model on October 19th.

The Gillett School District will be going all virtual from Tuesday, Sept. 29 through Monday, Oct. 12. The school district said the move is due to the number of positive COVID-19 cases within district buildings and the increased spread in the community. All athletics will also pause for this time period, the school district says.

"If after the 14-day period that we are all virtual and we have reduced our positive cases, we can resume with in-person learning starting October 13," Gillett School District says.

These announcements follow other school districts in Northeast Wisconsin who have made similar transitions due to COVID-19.
