GREEN BAY, Wis — From Titletown’s Ariens Hill where kids can sled, to city parks across Green Bay where ice rinks are being created, the opportunities to get outside and enjoy this winter weather are popping up.

While the temperatures this week were a bit colder, the forecast for the next week will be predominately above freezing. According to Park and Recreation workers with the city of Green Bay that means that ice rinks across town likely won’t be completed and ready for use until after the holiday.

But at Ariens Hill in Ashwaubenon in the Titletown district, snow has already been created and stored onsite just in case the temperature gets warm enough to melt portions of their hill. Staff shared with NBC26 that they are ready for the crowds over the holiday, whether they want to sled or ice skate on their outdoor rink.

“We can actually sustain our ice rink because we have coolers and chillers underneath the ice that help us keep it to mid to high 40’s,” says Jackie Krutz the Manager of Titletown Residential and Programs.

Ice rinks at public parks in Green Bay are expected to open following the next cold snap, which will likely come after the holiday.
