LITTLE CHUTE (NBC 26) -- The Fox Valley Metro Police say a dog who was rescued from the icy Fox River on Saturday night is expected to make a full recovery.

Police say the dog, named Wes, had fallen through the ice and was swimming and struggling to stay afloat for some time before first responders arrived.

Wes was quickly pulled to safety with the help of the Fox Valley Metro Police and Little Chute Fire Department. He and his owner were then taken to a local veterinary clinic for him to receive treatment.

He is expected to make a full recovery.

"Thank you again to everyone involved who made this rescue possible," said Wes's owner.
