Concerts and game make for a busy weekend in Green Bay

GREEN BAY -- With the Packers home opener on Sunday it's going to be buzzing in Green Bay but when you add not one, not two, but three concerts taking place in the shadow of Lambeau Field, it's going to be much busier than your typical home game.

For starters, country music star Eric Church is going to be playing a show on both Friday and Saturday night at the Resch Center, located just across the street from Lambeau. It’s a concert that's expected to bring in about 10,000 people per night.

On top of that, the country music band Big & Rich will play a free concert in Lambeau’s parking lot on Saturday at 5 p.m. Those crowds give a major shot in the arm to the greater Green Bay area.

"A typical home game weekend for us is about 14 to 15 million-dollar economic impact,” said Brad Toll with the Greater Green Bay Convention and Visitors Bureau. “I would say this one is probably pushing up toward 15 million given everything else that's going on."

Restaurants, bars and hotels are the places that are reaping the most benefits from the Packers Viking game on Sunday. When the area has a major rivalry like this going down, prices at hotels and prices for game day tickets, tend to surge.
