GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- Brown County United Way has announced a new grant to help enhance Green Bay neighborhoods. Specifically, the grant program is looking to help near-Eastside Green Bay neighborhoods: Navarino, Downtown, Whitney Park and Joannes Park.

Officials at Brown County United Way hope the grant will inspire local organizations to build and strengthen relationships while addressing community needs and concerns at a neighborhood level.

The one-year grants will range from $1,000 to $10,000 with use between Aug. 3, 2020 and July 29, 2021. Applications will be reviewed by community members serving on Brown County United Way’s Impact Initiatives Council. The grant application process closes July 20.

Brown County United Way hopes the grants will help beautify communal spaces, create neighborhood social capital and cohesion, connect people to resources that support financial security, health and wellbeing, and provide engagement and educational opportunities to youth, families and seniors.

Brown County United Way says this new grant process is an outcome of conversations the organization had in February with residents and business leaders.
