SHAWANO COUNTY (NBC 26) -- An Appleton woman's death is under investigation in Shawano County.
On Wednesday morning at around 7 a.m., Shawano County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to Happy Lane in the Town of Hartland for a reported child running naked in the area. The Sheriff's Office said a 9-year old boy was picked up by a bystander and turned over to deputies when they arrived on scene.
About two hours later, a suspicious vehicle was reported at a property on Happy Lane. After searching the area, the Sheriff's Office said a 33-year-old Appleton woman was found dead in a small pond a short distance from the vehicle. The Sheriff's Office said the deceased woman was the boy's mother.
The death appears to be an accidental drowning, according to the Sheriff's Office, but the incident remains under investigation. An autopsy is pending.
