Monday kicked off the 7th annual Memorial Day Honor Ride.

It's a statewide motorcycle event that supports the non-profit Veteran Park, The Highground in Neillsville.

The Highground is a 155 acre manned veterans Memorial Park that pays tribute to the dead and honors the survivors, their service and their sacrifice.

The Memorial Day Honor Ride is made up of 8 scenic routes starting in Appleton, Boscobel, Eau Claire, Medford, Minneapolis, Neillsville, Tomah and Waupaca.

It costs $25 per driver and $15 for a passenger. Organizers tell NBC26 all proceeds go towards upkeep at the memorial.

About a dozen people took off from Appleton to meet with more motorcyclists in Waupaca. Organizers estimate about 300 people will take part in the event.

Additional stops may have been added along the route.

A ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. at The Highgrounds to honor the fallen.
