On Tuesday night, Green Bay City Council members voted 10-2 to pass the County Executive's amendment that would send excess room tax back to municipalities.

The City of Green Bay approved committing its excess room tax to fund a future expo hall.

"This community is about to make a sizeable investment in its overall quality of life and some of the core mandated services that are required from the county, and we should all be proud," said Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach. "There's still a lot of work to be done, so from that standpoint the City of Green Bay being the largest municipality just sent a very strong message to the rest of the county that they're with us and they want to see continued success for the overall region."

The Village of Bellevue will vote on the amended Room Tax Resolution on June 28.

Following that vote, Allouez, Ashwaubenon, Howard and Suamico will all need to approve the amendment before it can be formally adopted, according to the county.

The Common Council also addressed the stalled $44 million Hotel Northland project.

The developer, Keith Harenda, has two new developers signing onto the project. The Hotel Northland also received a two month extension to get its funds in order to finish the project.
