Wisconsin reports nearly 600 new coronavirus cases Wednesday

MADISON (NBC 26) -- Following lower numbers on Tuesday, the latest update from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services show an increase in the percent rate of positive coronavirus tests.

The rate went up to 5.6% Wednesday, with fewer negative tests being reported. Wisconsin reported 598 new cases on Wednesday. The total number of cases in Wisconsin is now 33,154, but nearly 80% of those people have recovered. There are currently 6,037 active coronavirus cases in the state.

There was another increase in reported deaths, but not as high as Tuesday. Two more people have died from COVID-19, resulting a total of 807 deaths.

Wisconsin DHS also updated its monitoring of the coronavirus activity level by county. Most counties in Northeast Wisconsin report either a high or medium level of coronavirus activity. Click here to see the updated chart.
