OSHKOSH (NBC 26) -- The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh is announcing pay cuts and furloughs for staff as a result of the economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement issued Friday, UW-O said its vice chancellors and Chancellor Andrew Leavitt will take a 15% salary reduction starting in May.

Additionally, UW-O said 180 employees will be on continuous furlough effective May 4, with furloughs extending up to 90 working days through August 31. Remaining staff will be placed on furlough two days each month beginning in May, the university said.

The university also said nine-month employees are exempt from furloughs this fiscal year (ending June 30). Nine-month employees will be notified later this summer regarding intermittent furloughs during their fiscal year 2021 contract.

This announcement from UW-O comes on the same day that UW-Green Bay announced it will also put employees on furlough.
