BROWN COUNTY (NBC 26) -- Brown County saw only a small increase in the number of coronavirus cases on Wednesday.

Currently, the county has 1,971 coronavirus cases, an increase of only 12 cases from Tuesday. The Oneida Nation is still reporting 22 cases. 45 people have been hospitalized. The number of deaths remains at 20.

Brown County health officials said the numbers are expected to "ebb and flow" as more community testing becomes available. They are pleased to see a small number of cases reported Wednesday, but officials say the ultimate goal is to see cases start to decrease.

357 people are out of isolation, meaning they're not a threat for spreading the virus.

4,961 tests in total have been conducted in the county. County Executive Troy Streckenbach is encouraging people in Brown County to get tested. Learn more about getting tested here. After May 22, Streckenbach said the hope is for health care providers administer tests.

County officials also took the time during a news conference Wednesday to talk about the impact of tourism in the county. Brad Toll, President of the Visitors Bureau, said 12,000 jobs are supported by hospitality and tourism. Hotels are nearly all open currently, but occupancy is at 15 percent, during a time of year when it's normally 50 percent. Toll also said Badger State Brewing is helping fund a grant that will go towards visitor businesses.

Toll also said the Bureau has instructed businesses in their industry to clean more and develop a plan to ensure visitor businesses will be clean.
