Madison, Wis – Governor Scott Walker announced Friday that Racine, Clintonville, and Florence have completed financial assistance agreements with the Wisconsin DNR to replace lead service lines on qualifying private properties.
According to a release from the governor’s office, Clintonville will receive $310,000 to replace approximately 140 private lead service lines. Homeowners will contract with plumbers from an approved list. The city will then pay the plumbers directly on behalf of the homeowners for up to $2,000 of the cost.
The replacements will result in complete removal of the lead service line from the water main to the connection point inside the home or facility.
Together, the three agreements total $1,135,000 and will cover work at 496 residential properties as well as two licensed day cares and two schools.
