A dispute is brewing between the City of Appleton and Outagamie County. The issue is over a piece of property located near I-41 and Highway 441. The county wants the land for a new location for the Sheriff's office. There is talk of acquiring the land through eminent domain.
Mayor Tim Hanna is against the plan saying the plan sends the wrong message to the business community. A business has made an accepted offer to the city to buy the land. The county has reportedly offered to pay above the appraised value.
A county board meeting is planned tonight in Appleton to discuss the proposal and the county's options to move forward
