A Suamico homeowner assessed damages Thursday after a tree crashed through the roof of her house on Cedar lane.

Dana King said Wednesday at about 10:30 p.m. she was in bed when she heard a loud crash.  At first, King said she thought the window broke. The noise woke her daughter, too.

King said when she and her husband got to the living room she couldn't believe what she saw.

"Well my daughter woke up and was kind of frightened by it and my son slept through most of it," said King.  "He woke up 10 minutes later and was kind of surprised to see a tree coming through his ceiling, and my dog was scared."

She said she was stunned by the damage.

"My husband looked at it at first just to try to see how much damage there was and then I grabbed my cell phone to take pictures because I knew I would have to call the insurance company," said King.

She said she called a local construction company that could remove branches.  Crews told her she should get it fixed as soon as possible because more rain is coming.  King said it will cost more than $1,000 to repair.
