7 people displaced after Two Rivers house fire

TWO RIVERS, WI -- Seven people are without a home after a fire in Two Rivers.

The fire happened around 6:40 p.m. Friday on the 2000 block of Jackson Street in Two Rivers.

When fire crews arrived on scene, smoke could be seen coming from the windows.

No one was inside the house at the time of the fire.

A dog and cat were rescued from the home.

A kitten and ferret died in the fire due to smoke inhalation.

The fire was under control around 7:30 p.m.

One firefighter suffered a laceration to his finger during the fire. He was treated on the scene.

WPS was on scene to disconnect the gas and power.

The house has extensive smoke damage, moderate fire damage and standing water in the basement.

Damage estimates are estimated to be around $43,000.

The fire is still under investigation.

The Red Cross helped the family displaced by the fire.

The Two Rivers Fire Department was assisted by Manitowoc Fire and EMS, Town of Two Rivers Fire Department, Mischicot Fire and EMS, and Rockwood Fire Department.
