Number 3 ranked Freedom traveled to the top-ranked Little Chute Friday night for a Division 4 - Level 3 Playoff matchup. The two teams had met before in the regular season in a North Eastern Conference game in which Little Chute won, but Freedom was looking to come in to Little Chute Friday night and pull out an upset win.
Both teams are powered by strong offenses and good quarterbacks, leaving the edge to whatever defense was going to make more stops. The first half saw Freedom take the lead but with a little over a minute left in the half Little Chute had the ball on offense and drove all the way down inside the 10-yard line of Freedom. It was 2nd and Goal and Little Chute dropped back to throw, tossed a pass towards the back of the end zone for the receiver and was picked off by Freedom. With the interception Freedom was able to hold on to their 14-10 lead over Little Chute going into halftime.
In the 3rd quarter Freedom extended their lead to 21-10 with a goal-line touchdown run. Just minutes later Little Chute answered with a 27-yard touchdown pass to close the gap to 21-16 after a failed 2-point conversion. That was just the first score of the 3rd quarter by Little Chute, in the closing minute of the 3rd Little Chute was set up on the 1-yard line and was able to pound it in on the ground for another touchdown to take their first lead of the game making it 23-21.
In the 4th quarter Freedom wasn't able to score again on offense as Little Chute added 7 more points to increase their lead to 30-21. Little Chute will move on to face St. Croix Central next week in hopes of getting one step closer to a State Title.
