End of an Era: Your Emails to NBC26

Fans React to Favre's Retirement

I am happy for him first off. The toll of 17 years in the NFL shows in his face. I was a  bit surprised he didn't play 1 more year or 2, but after seeing todays farewell speech I understand why. He is drained and needs to move on. Thanks for the memories Brett and enjoy a retirement with your family that is well earned.

I think Brett is doing the right and proper thing. He is retiring at the top of his game and still in decent health. After all of the great things he has done both on and off the field, he truly deserves a Forrest Gump-type retirement. By that I mean just puttering around on his tractor and maybe going fishing every now & then. God bless you Brett, you deserve a long happy retirement.

Highly respect the man for coming on the press conference dressed as he did. showed and proved he is the Man he is.
i mean without even trying to prove any thing about it he did to me in showing he just wants to be who and how he is.
Brett Thank You for all you have given and your commitment. You are Loved, Respected, and Honored.

I'm really sad that Brett is retiring. It's been such a joy to watch him. He never acted like he was full of himself. Brett and his family are good and caring people that have given so much. Happy retirement.

True Favre fans will understand and be supportive of Brett's decision. They will also be indebted to the entire Favre family for all the sacrifices they made over the past 16 years, so that Packers fans could enjoy "success of winning." We'll miss you Brett.

More than one era will end with Brett's retirement.
For me it started in the early 60's as a young kid in Arizona.
My best friend was from Chicago, and I remember being at his house while his dad (a Bears loyal fan) cursed this team from Green Bay.
I didn't know where the heck that was, but I soon learned who, what, why and where it was.
I think the players on both teams who are no longer with us are smiling down on Brett and the Packers.
I know my friends father is still cursing at the Packers, but also smiling on Brett and the team.

I am 16 years old.  Just as old as Favre has been with the Packers.  I think his leaving will be very hard for all the kids around my age, because all we knew was Brett Favre our whole lives.  People older have been through the change of quarterbacks in Lambeau.  I haven't, and it really hurts, especially that he can still play.  But life goes on and despite all of this I am happy for him and his family on being able to spend more time together, and I'd like to say good luck to him as he leaves a part of his life behind.

I've been around when other NFL players retired & I've NEVER got chocked up like I did when I heard that the BEST NFL QB was retiring. Brett Your the best. Thank you Brett.

Whenever you watch a professional, no matter what it is, when that professional enjoys what they are doing, it really makes whatever it is so much more enjoyable.  Brett and his love of what he does it a perfect example.  He loved what he did and it showed.

I think that the man has earned his retirement many times over.  For the amount of pain, effort, determination, frustration, heartache, sweat, and tears he has endured wearing the green and gold, Mr. Favre packed forty seasons worth of memories and joy into seventeen seasons for us fans.  Taking into account the hard hits that Brett has sustained in the games toward the end of this season, and the amount of pain he has played though in the past recent seasons, I don't blame him for not wanting to play the game any more.  I wish Brett all the best of luck for him and his family, with all that they have awaiting them in their lives together.  Thank you for all you brought to Green Bay.  You'd be an interesting person to go fishing with.

Even as a Bear fan, I am sad to see Brett go but it was inevitable someday. Brett is the best QB ever in my opinion, no one will ever reach the summit he has.
