GREEN BAY, Wis.--The Green Bay Packers placed Running Back Cedric Benson on injured reserve after suffering an injury in the Colts game on October 7th. The move means Benson will be out of action for at least 8 weeks and opens a roster spot for the team.

Benson sustained a mid foot injury called a Lisfranc fracture. It's the same injury that sidelined New York Jets receiver Santonio Holmes earlier this season. The Jets say Homes is out for the year.

The Packers will rely on running backs Alex Green, Brandon Saine and James Starks for now. John Kuhn may also play more at the position for the Packers.

Green Bay travels to Houston to take on the undefeated Texans on Sunday Night. That game will be shown on NBC26. Kickoff is set for 7:20.
