Driver to Receive National Honor for Foundation
NBC26 Staff -- Donald Driver can add another award to his trophy case. The former Packers receiver will be honored with the AMVETS Silver Helmet Awards Banquet on Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Hilton Mark Center, Alexandria, Virginia
Joining a distinguished list of past award winners including First Lady Barbara Bush, Dolly Parton and Bart Starr, Driver said he is humbled by the nomination. “The Ladies Auxiliary does so much for our Veterans,” Driver said. “This award is truly special to me, but these ladies, along with all of our veterans, are the real heroes.”
Driver is being recognized for his work with the Donald Driver Foundation through which he has helped homeless families get on their feet and underprivileged children succeed in the classroom. In addition to the work he does with his own foundation,
AMVETS National Ladies Auxiliary is a subordinate organization of AMVETS (www.amvets.org), a congressionally chartered veterans service organization dating back to 1947.
