Expect Road Closures, delays during 2013 Cellcom Green Bay Marathon
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Green Bay, WI – Organizers of the 2013 Cellcom Green Bay Marathon are asking drivers to be alert the weekend of May 18th and 19th. The event is expected to attract a field of 7,500 athletes in the endurance running events and nearly 5,000 shorter distance runners.
The Cellcom Green Bay 5K will take place on Saturday, May 18th from 8:30 am until 10:00 am, while the longer Cellcom half and full marathon distance events will take place on Sunday, from 7:00 am until 2:00 pm.
Marathon runners will be on roads in the city of Green Bay, the Village of Ashwaubenon, the city of DePere, and also utilize the Fox River Trail to pass from DePere to downtown Green Bay.
Organizers have been working with all Brown County public safety departments to establish road closures and staffing needs to safely accommodate the event. The Port of Green Bay, Wisconsin DOT and Canadian National Railroad have also been involved throughout this planning process.
Those living along the course routes are asked to use caution when leaving and returning to their driveways on race weekend. Proper planning ensures a safe course for participants while avoiding collisions and interruption of event flow.
