Phoenix Confidence Growing As Postseason Nears
After hovering around the top 25 in the nation for the entire season, the Green Bay Woman's basketball team officially amongst the nations best in this week's Associated Press poll.
The Phoenix sliding into the 25th spot in the poll released Monday.
It's the first time the program has been ranked this year, on the heels of two wins this past weekend, pushing their current win streak to 16 games.
Two additional wins and the Phoenix can claim at least a share of their 15th straight Horizon League title.
Sophomore Point Guard Megan Lukan has high expectations for this postseason, including whether or not she believes the team can make a run to New Orleans and the Final Four.
"That is a realistic goal. Every year that is a goal," she said. "We're not just trying to win our league, we want to see how far we can go in the tournament."
Head Coach Kevin Borseth may not be willing to throw around such lofty expectations. Rather, taking it one game at a time.
"We all want to get in the NCAA tournament, that's a goal every program has. I don't think we're any different in that regard. We're just trying to get better with every game that we play."
Green Bay returns to the court Saturday for the PinkZone Game, hosting Valpo.
