Phoenix Guard Earns Horizon League Player of the Week
GREEN BAY, Wis.-- In two straight regular season games, UWGB point guard Keifer Sykes has won the Horrizon League Player of the Week award. His first came in the Phoenix final regular season game last year.
Sykes, a 5-foot-11 point guard, scored a career-high 31 points on Saturday to help the Phoenix post a 72-67 season-opening win over Chicago State. He made 7-of-14 shots from the field and connected on a school-record 17 free throws (17-19). Sykes scored 22 of his 31 points after halftime to lead a Phoenix comeback and also added seven rebounds and three steals in 36 minutes.
The Phoenix begin a four game road trip on Friday starting with the World Vision Classic in Reno Nevada.
