Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve reports that deputies were dispatched Saturday for reports a woman had been separated from a group of tubers floating on the Peshtigo River.
The call came in around 4:00 PM.
Emergency responders attempted to locate the woman. Shortly after 7:00 PM, a Crivitz resident who had been helping with the search found a female submerged in the river.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim is only identified as a 26-year-old Green Bay woman. Her name is being withheld so her family can be notified.
Sheriff Sauve says there is no indication of foul play at this point, and it appears to be an accidental drowning. An investigation will continue.
