The Oconto County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Medical Examiner’s Office on Sunday of the death of a 29-year-old woman from Oconto. This was the result of a traffic crash that occurred on April 28.

At about 2:20 a.m. on April 28, Oconto County 911 received a report of a one vehicle crash on Highway 41, just south of Brookside Road in the town of Pensaukee.

Law enforcement and rescue personnel arrived on scene and found a vehicle off the road, overturned, fully engulfed in flames. The small SUV vehicle was apparently southbound on Highway 41 when the driver lost control of the vehicle and traveled off road right. The vehicle overturned and started on fire. The driver who was also the lone occupant was ejected from the vehicle. Deputies found the driver about 40 feet from the vehicle in vegetation. It appears that alcohol was a factor. The driver was transported to an area hospital with life threatening injuries.

Oconto County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, Pensaukee Fire Oconto Fire - Rescue, County Rescue and Abrams First Responders performed rescue operations and traffic management.
