A suspect has been shot by deputies after a chase according to the Shawano County Sherriff’s Dept.

Deputies say they received a call just before 5:00 p.m. Friday for a report of a distraught person who allegedly made comments threatening violence. Deputies say they made attempts to speak with the 52-year-old Wittenberg man over the phone, but were unsuccessful citing verbal aggression.

Shawano County Sheriff’s Deputies and a special response team were dispatched to the area. They say an armored vehicle from the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office was used.

Around 7:30 p.m., deputies say the suspect became involved in a vehicular pursuit with authorities and allegedly threatened law enforcement.

Deputies say they responded to the threat and the man was shot. The man received treatment at a local hospital.

The criminal investigation in the matter is being overseen by the State Department of Criminal Investigation.
