GREEN BAY, WI---- Governor Walker signed legislation returning 17 million dollars to Brown County and its 24 municipalities.

The money comes from excess Lambeau field tax dollars.

A quarter of that money left over from that Lambeau field sales tax will go to the county to redevelop the Brown County Arena, but as for the municipalities, work now begins on what to do with the money they're receiving.

The legislation says local governments would use the money towards debt relief, lowering property taxes, or economic development.

“This is all about community development and about making it more prosperous area and three important ways to make it more prosperous area long term," says Rep. Davis Steffen of Howard.

Allouez village administrator Brad Lange has already held discussion on this.

“What we have now is a rather long list of potential ideas and that's all they are at this point," says Lange.

Mayor Jim Schmitt of Green Bay says he hopes to have a decision on where that money will go sometime in the spring.
