University of Wisconsin System leaders have approved a plan to raise prospective students' application fees.

The Board of Regents approved the proposal unanimously during a meeting at UW-Milwaukee on Friday.

UW-Madison undergraduate application fees will increase from $50 to $60 to help defray the cost of using the Common Application, which allows students to file a single application for multiple universities. UW-Madison graduate application fees will go from $56 to $75. Application fees for the law, medical, veterinary and pharmacy schools will increase between $16 and $19.

Application fees for other UW campuses will increase from $44 to $50. System officials say the increase will cover rising processing costs.
