Golfer Tiger Woods was arrested on charges of driving under the influence early Monday morning in Jupiter, Fla.

Woods, a Jupiter Island resident, was taken into custody at 3 a.m. Monday.

Palm Beach County Jail records indicate Woods was released from custody at 10:50 a.m. Monday morning.

Woods released a statement Monday night, saying "alcohol was not involved," and that "what happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications."

"I understand the severity of what I did, and I take full responsibility for my actions," Woods said in the statement. "I didn't realize the mix of medications had affected me so strongly."

Woods, a 14-time major champion, recently had back surgery after injuries had been plaguing him for the past three years.

"I will do everything in my power to ensure this never happens again," Woods continued in the statement, complementing the professionalism of the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office and Jupiter Police Department, which took him into custody and booked him into county jail.
