Area high schoolers are learning how to become leaders of tomorrow through the Symposium for Teens.
350 teens from 18 Fox Valley schools attended the event on Tuesday at the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel in Appleton.

This year's theme was "Be Your Own Hero." The symposium teaches the importance of honesty, empathy, respect, and having an open mind. They also focused on how to use technology wisely.

"The electronic age that the students live in now is phenomenally different from the way I lived. You know instant everything. They have to be cautious of that and the things that they do because everything is recorded nowadays," said motivational speaker Brian Anderson.

United Way and the YMCA of the Fox Cities puts on the symposium.
