Teen arrested after missing dog's body is found

The Green Lake County Sheriff's Department reports that, on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, a complainant from southern Green Lake County reported that his family dog had been missing since May 12th and suspected that foul play was involved. A subsequent investigation conducted by the Green Lake County Sheriff's Office revealed that the complainant's dog, a 10-year-old yellow lab, had been running in a field near a fenceline in the area and was shot by a turkey hunter. On Sunday, May 21, the remains of the dog were located and recovered. Positive identification was made on the dog as being that belonging to the complainant. On Monday morning, May 22nd, a 17-year-old male from Cambria was taken into custody for felony Mistreatment of Animals - Causing Death. No further information concerning this case will be released pending the filing of formal charges from the Green Lake County District Attorney's Office.
