How to avoid having loads of unread messages on your phone.

***DELETE -- Delete only messages you know you'll never read or respond to that have been hanging around for, say, six months or more.

***UNSUBSCRIBE AND CONSOLIDATE -- Take a hard look at all those unread emails: Do you really need to keep receiving them? If not, then hit the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the message. You can also use a service like Unroll.me to mass unsubscribe.

***USE FOLDERS, FILTERS, TAGS, AND LABELS -- Another option for low-priority mail is to move it to its own folder. Some email applications do this automatically, but you can also set up filters that redirect messages with certain keywords into a specified folder.

***CREATE A SPAM EMAIL -- Whenever you are shopping or signing up for distro lists, use a separate email address (create one anywhere - yahoo, gmail, etc.) And keep a personal email for your personal exchanges. You'll find all your coupons and non-urgent messages in a separate spam email.
