Special Operations Squad arrests Manitowoc man after standoff

MANITOWOC, Wis. - A 48-year-old Manitowoc man is in custody after a standoff with the Special Operation Squad Saturday afternoon.

Officers with the Manitowoc Police Department say they got 911 texts that a man was pointing a gun at a woman on the south side of the city.

Victims could leave the house after police got there, according to a press release.

After police couldn't make contact with the suspect over the phone, they approached the house, where they say they spoke with the man.

Officers say they ordered him out of the house, where he was taken into custody.

The department says the man had felony and misdemeanor warrants before this incident.

Manitowoc Police are conducting follow-up interviews to see if they’ll press more charges.
