Veterans and their families gathered in Neenah on Friday ahead of Memorial Day to pay respect to their brothers and sisters who made the ultimate sacrifice.

General Logan's order honoring fallen soldiers after the Civil War was read along with a presentation by decorated Marine veteran" George Gilles. It brought home the meaning of the holiday for those who heard it.

"Memorial Day to me is to is to honor, to reflect, and remember those who did make the ultimate sacrifice. We are so blessed in this country. It's just unbelievable," said Michael Hert, Senior Vice Commander of the Disabled American Veterans chapter in Winnebago County.

Veterans say it's important for all of us to remember the sacrifice of our service men and women, and their families, this holiday weekend.
