The American Red Cross is partnering with local non-profits, public and private sector organizations to open a “one-stop shop” for residents of Wednesday’s fire at Parkview Havens in Manitowoc.
On Friday, May 12, the Multi-Agency Relief Center (MARC) will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Wilson Junior High School, 1201 N. 11th Street in Manitowoc.
Trained Red Cross caseworkers and community partners will help residents create personal recovery plans, navigate paperwork and locate assistance for their specific disaster-caused needs. This helps the fire victims move forward with their recovery process easier than having to track down different resources at different locations.
Those helping include:
Lakeshore CAP
MTM Transportation
Health and Human Services
Aging and Disabilities Resource Center
Lakeland Care
Salvation Army
Since responding at the time of the fire, the Red Cross has opened an overnight shelter and worked with the Salvation Army to provide food, snacks, personal hygiene kits and blankets. In addition, trained Red Cross responders are supporting health needs along with being a compassionate shoulder to lean on.
