50 police officers and educators from across the state were in Pulaski Friday for active shooter training. The group learned the ALICE method which stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate. It's a different approach from the traditional lockdown. The program teaches people to move around and even throw objects at the armed intruder.
ALICE has its critics, but supporters argue it gives students more options and could save more lives.
Pulaski has been practicing the method for the past three years.
"If God forbid something bad were to happen, it's very important that we think about this ahead of time, because the more we think about it, the better off we're going to be in one of these situations. You know, anytime you plan for something, you handle it better," said Lisa Misco, Pulaski School District Director of Student Services.
ALICE training was created by two Dallas police officers.
The two day training session in Pulaski wrapped up on Friday.
